Pete Sutch wanted to feed the hungry in Thurston County.
He created the Super Soupers March 2014.
Pete stood up at an MLSA meeting and asked for help sponsoring a meal once a month at the Olympia Community Kitchen and received an overwhelming response. The group provides a hot meal once a month on the 3rd Thursday. Typically the group serves around 160 meals, however with covid the numbers have dropped to 120.
Time commitments are 2 hours for prep and 2 hours for serving to the community. Pete's only ask is that volunteers participate 4 times a year. Currently, the volunteer list sits at 20-40 people and family and spouses are welcome. Pete says "all are welcome to participate".
Greene Realty agents Sue Smith and Stacey Gravatt volunteered their time last Thursday.
