With the new year upon us, resolutions are being planned and (hopefully) executed with great effort. One of the most popular resolutions is getting healthier, which is always easier to attain with a great gym. So, which gym is the best place to work on your New Year’s resolution? We asked our agents and got back some interesting responses.

The Valley Athletic Club

4833 Tumwater Valley Dr SE, Olympia, WA 98501

Located in the heart of the Tumwater Valley, the Valley Athletic Club is a huge building with multiple services available. If you’re looking to go at your own pace on standard fitness equipment, the gym is equipped with dozens of different machines to get you through your workout. If these workouts aren’t your style, there are full basketball courts, pickleball and racquetball courts, and even an indoor and outdoor lap pool. Once you’re finished with your workout, you can swing by their coffee stand, exclusive to members, and pick up a latte for the road.

The Valley has a slightly higher monthly price tag than other local gyms, but the amenities are second to none in the area.

The gym focuses on the standard fitness equipment but offers an all-day kids club (for those parents looking to get their workout in without distractions), free access to their tanning beds all year round, a smoothie bar, and a sauna.

The gym is relatively inexpensive to join and is open 24 hours a day. It also is locally veteran owned and operated and deeply focused on our community.

This gym is more than just a gym. Athena Fitness and Wellness is locally owned and female-driven. Not only is the standard workout equipment available, but the space is also used as an opportunity for women to connect and empower each other. The fitness and wellness center mixes standard programs like Zumba and Body Pump with a unique offering like Candlelight Yoga mix for just $10 per class.

“It isn’t about body image with Athena,” Nanette Stewart says. “They want everyone to feel welcome.”

OrangeTheory Fitness

1540 Cooper Point Rd SW STE 480, Olympia, WA 98502

Orangetheory is a total-body group workout that combines science, coaching, and technology to guarantee maximum results from the inside out. Their workout is heart rate-based interval training, where you train through 5 heart rate zones designed to charge your metabolism for and deliver true results.
